The woman that just walked into my gym just reminded me to make this PSA:
If you do not try to speak slowly and clearly for people that have recently moved to the country and are trying to learn English, you have a LOT of growing to do. If you show irritation for someone that knows little English but is trying, you have a LOT of growing to do. I’ve recently seen an incident in customer service that fueled my anger so much.
Be welcoming, show compassion, kindly help out with words, speak SLOWLY, introduce yourself, and just be a kind human to someone who is trying.
