We all have standards that we set for the people that we’re looking for, in some way or another. It might not be a list of specific things, but we all know the certain things that we want to find in a person. A non smoker. Or someone who’s religious. Or someone with a sense of humor. We’re all looking for something in particular, something different, something special.
But it’s so weird that these standards change so much, and they do, don’t they? Due to your experiences, due to seeing the world in a whole new light, due to the past, due to recent friendships or relationships, due to where you’re headed in your life, due to “I’ll never be with someone like that again.”
But the most important changes in these standards occur when they’re all met. But that doesn’t make sense, why is that? I mean, you’ve found the one you’ve been searching for with everything that you’re looking for, right? You’ve found your someone. You’ve found your soulmate.
But something’s still missing.
But why would something be missing, why would you be unhappy, when all that you ever wanted is right in front of you?
Because there are standards that you didn’t see before. All your standards are met, but there are new ones that just seemed so common sense, you figured those would just be automatic things about a person that everyone had. Or you figured it would be something that would never be a problem for you.
So now you have a decision to make, whether to talk about those things with that person you’re unhappy about, or to move on. But a person can and will change for himself easily; changing for someone else is a more difficult process, along with it having a high probability of failing in the long run unless you do truly wholeheartedly Love that person.
But if you Loved that person, it would mean you’d found the One already and none of these words matter to you anyway, huh?
Happiness is the greatest good in life; everything you do should be on the path toward your happiness. If something doesn’t feel right, change it. We all have gears in the machines that are our lives that don’t turn quite as smoothly as they should, but they’re there, and there’s nothing that we can do about them being there, because they’re parts of our lives and they were meant to be there from the beginning.
But you’re the one that machine is running for, and there’s nothing wrong with using a little oil.
Find the strength to get to that oil, find your strength to get over the rocky paths of your life.
And find the way to happiness, because you’re completely worth it.
With love,
Mike
