“I know this pain. Why do you lock yourself up in these chains?”
When I first watched Bridesmaids three years ago, I told myself that I was Annie Walker. I had hit rock bottom. And over these past years, there have since been so many ups and downs. I’ve learned so much from the ups, and so much more from the downs. Oh so many downs.
But on watching it again, I realize, I was never Annie all along.
I was Officer Rhodes.
I was Officer Rhodes to a person back then. And I loved that person with all of my heart, even if it wasn’t in the way she Loved me.
And even more so, I am Officer Rhodes now. I’m trying to help in any way I can get you out of these chains and away from this pain, and I’m trying my best to show the good in you, and everything you are.
“And then you just left. Like it was nothing.”
But I know the reason for your leaving, and you know the reason for my leaving.
Maybe years from now, after you get your tail lights fixed, and everything starts to head uphill, I’ll be back.
Not because you’ll be better off, but because you’ll need help going uphill just as much as you needed going downhill. And because you won’t be scared to see me, thinking I’ll pull you over again.
And although I’d like to be there for everything, seeing you randomly hours or days or even months or years down the road happy and living life, just like Rhodes did, lights shining brightly, eyes shining even brighter, will mean everything to me.
Just like you do.
Goodnight and goodbye.
