It’s been a while since I’ve written anything. At least anything more than the random thoughts that go through my head throughout my life.
Buuuut let me tell you something.
This poem, by the wonderful Shel Silverstein, is everything to me. Such a simple way to say, be yourself. Don’t let that moment slip away because you’re hiding who you truly are. Don’t let that person go, don’t hide things, tell that person how much you love him or her, because that person might be keeping the same secret from you, and that person might just be all you need.
They searched for blue their whole life through… But how can you find something if you’re hiding it yourself?
Be yourself, let your true colors shine, or you may never find that person that can truly make you happy. Be yourself, because who knows what, or who, you’re missing out on.
I’m going through these troubles at the moment, in two cases.
The one that currently holds everything in my life and has the power to make or break my day, (probably) doesn’t know that he does.
But how can I possibly tell him, when he’s hiding behind the mask of who he truly is? It’s the never ending circle, it’s the double edged sword, it’s my seemingly forever catch 22. I feel like we can only both win if we conquer our fears.
But we’re both hiding behind these masks of our lives.
It’s just the most terrible thing when you have these words tattooed on your skin and you don’t live by them.
But you’ve got to be strong, you’ve got to be brave. You’ve got to take off the mask, because behind that mask… That just may be all the other person needs to take off his or her mask too.
And honestly, I’d do anything to see behind that mask. Because I believe it to be beautiful, I believe it to be all I want out of life, I believe it to be everything I need to be happy again.
Ive just got to be brave.
