There is an ember. It’s so bright. The fire has died but of course it has the ability to start up again with enough oxygen. But still it somehow continues to glow and burn.
And there is this little pile of dried up leaves under a hot summer day. But the wind is blowing violently at the moment, creating just a slight chill and swirling them around in the air, holding off that fire from beginning, at least for now.
But then there’s this pretty little campfire. Just large enough to be able to relax with someone outside on a cool summer night and stay warm. It’s a perfect little flame. …probably. Because it’s hiding in the middle of nowhere, and I can’t see it.
All this heat is wearing me away. And I don’t even understand how one source can coexist with the other.
I’d ask for a bucket of water, but at least they’re keeping me warm.
March on.
