I feel and hope that one day, this will all be different. That people won’t be scared to say who they really are. And that people are able to understand who they are. But those that do understand who they are… I just want them to know, and I hope that they realize, that they are most definitely not alone. There are others around you that are the same way as you. Coworkers. Family members. Best friends. And I’m not even just talking about those that are comfortable with themselves and have come out, there are others that are just as scared as you are, and look and act and are disguised as a straight person just like you are, and have the possibility of being just as brave as you can be. But fear is nothing when you’re not alone, and there are more of us around than you think. Maybe soon, with all this talk of equality in recent years, we won’t be so afraid of what others think of us. A world without judgment would be great. But people can and they always will, no matter who you are, so you may as well be yourself.
Don’t forfeit your happiness for your own satisfaction of having a “normal” life. Because nobody has a normal life. Everybody, every relationship has their problems that make it not so normal; we just have our own special spin on abnormality.
But if one thing is true, it’s the fact that we all have the opportunity of happiness.
Fix the obvious, and then work out the rest of the little flaws.
Just don’t let the obvious be what is holding you back.
