One of my new favorite songs is Legendary by the Summer Set. Yeah, it’s indie poppy kind of music, but give it a shot. The reason I say lyrics are everything is, people pay too much attention to the sound of the music, and not enough attention to what the artist is saying. Sure you may like the styles of Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, but do you hear what messages they’re trying to convey to you? Is that honestly something you look up to? No, I don’t like the styles of those and a few other artists as much as my Yellowcard or Simple Plan, but if Wiz was the one singing about being legendary in someone’s eyes, and dying and leaving an everlasting positive memory with someone, and the Summer Set sang about weed and rising to the top and making money, you better believe I’d be listening to Wiz.
“Don’t be afraid to die, cause to die would be an awfully big adventure.”
And maybe before you die, aim less for the goals that some artists are trying to set for you, and instead aim to be someone’s legendary.
Cause no matter what you listen to, we all wanna be legendary to somebody.
Just a thought.
